I love going to my gym to the Yoga Flow and Align classes, but sometimes fighting through traffic is a nightmare and I really wanted to create a comfortable and serene space for me to practice yoga in at home. It’s still a work in progress and it might change as I and my family start using the space more, but I’m really excited to get into a healthy exercise routine. Here a quick tour of my exercise room as well as some steps to help you set up your own home yoga studio setup.

1.) Create a Dedicated Space:
We are incredibly lucky to have a patio with a roof where I chose to setup my yoga space and my husband and children can also use it to do some home workouts.
When choosing a space, it should ideally be a quiet and well-lit area in your home where you can practice without interruptions.
We had some old chairs and a table which I moved outside and tried to declutter the room to create a clean and organized environment.
Since this room has really hard stone tiles, I bought some soft gym floor tiles that were so easy to put together in the middle of the room.
2.) Yoga Equipment:
I invested in a really good quality yoga mat. I chose a cork one because not only is it comfortable (especially on my knees), but it’s also Beautiful, the natural cork displaces water, is Eco-Friendly and Non Toxic.
I also got some cork blocks to make sure I can get my poses and alignment right as well as a non slip yoga towel.
To try and keep the space tidy, I have got this trolley with wheels on the bottom so I could move it. This helps to keep the space tidy and make it easy to access the equipment when needed.
3.) Ambience and Decor:
I added a few plants, such as some “Delicious Monsters” and Ferns and I’m trying to only have pet safe plants – so no lillies as I have 2 cats. I also hung up some stunning macrame plant hangers – the “Pilea” plants look so pretty! My dream is to have a giant indoor garden.
I might try grow some sort of creeper to cover the wall, but in the meantime, I found these really great wall plant tiles to hang up. They were pretty easy to put together, the hardest part was hanging them on our facebrick wall – as the bricks are so hard, they were impossible to try and hammer a nail into.
I’ve also started decorating the space with candles, incense and a few other items that bring me joy. Having the pond and water feature bubbling in the background is really calming, but I have also got a little bluetooth speaker to play my Spotify yoga playlist.
