I absolutely loved painting these Lord of the Rings : The fellowship of the ring mini figurines but my first attempt was not successful at all! Being a novice mini figurine painter, it was a combination of not knowing which paint to use (unfortunately I used enamel so all the Hobbits and Gandalf were really shiny) and I also didn’t prime my figurines so the paint didn’t want to stick.
I also managed to snap Samwise’s feet off and then superglued my fingers together so that was “fun”.

For my second attempt, I actually found it really relaxing, and my mind could just drift away as I painted.
I bought about 10 individual Citidel paint colours, but in hindsight, should have bought a paint set as I think it would have worked out much more cost effective. These colours were much brighter and were very easy to apply.
Here’s a quick video of me painting the LOTR mini figurines. As you can see I made a complete mess of my desk – and I’m trying to save up for some decent tiny paint brushes for detailing as well as a painting handle to hold my figurines while I’m painting, sounds like a good idea too.
Since the announcement that Henry Cavil is going to be involved in WarHammer – I think that’ll be my next painting project :) Who knows, hopefully I would have saved up for a decent painting kit.

Have you painted any figurines? Let me know in the comments below!
